Any recommendations on sites/groups that I could use to find a marathon training partner for this summer's SF Marathon?

erin, there are a slew of running mags out there where you can find running partners (sorry, at this time, the names of the mags just escape me right now..:( ). you can find these magazines at any running store.

another way to go about it is team in training...

hope this helps and good luck to you on your marathon!

Erin,

Check out http://www.sanjosefit.....  This is an actual training program that trains for a marathon in the fall.  But they don't start training until mid-April.  I haven't been on the site in a while, but you may be able to find people or other resources through their website also.

Team In Training is a fantastic way to go:

www.TeamInTraining.org/sj

You'll find several running partners, a whole support group and accomplish an endurance sport you've been wanting to.
Good luck!

I've ran 8 marathons. You'll find it much easier if you train with a group. Also, bring band aids, the ones that feels slippery or like skin and a fresh bagel, you will be hungry near the last half and oranges and raisins, bananas will not really hit the spot and you will want to stop. Good luck.

Helena's advice to check "Team in Training" is excellent: I know someone who hooked up with their bicycle team and had a great time of it.

Also, why not try Craigslist?

I third the Team in Training suggestion. There were a lot of first-timers like me and they kept me accountable for both training & fundraising.

I don't think the local chapter of TNT trains for the SF Marathon though. I'd suggest finding a running club near you, because they'll have regular training events, inexpensive membership fees, and discount perks. I found http://www.sfrrc.org/ and http://www.parunclub.com/, but haven't personally looked into them. Maybe someone else will have comments.

I'm registered for the SF Marathon, too. It's going to be my first!
