Okay, most of the time I'm listenin' to indie rock.  The Decemberists and The Long Winters keep me going while I'm typing away all day. When I'm driving, it's usually the Eels or Broken Social Scene.

I love going to live shows, but NO ONE dances anymore. Everyone is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too cool. I've given up on idie rock as far as dancing goes. So now I'm looking for some hip hop.

There's a new hip hop night at beauty bar--every Wednesday night from 9 p.m. to close--but where else can I go to shake my ass? I've avoided the Gaslamp like the plaque since I turned 21 (my fake ID used to work wonders down there) but I guess I'd be willing to give it another go if someone says that's my only option.

Anyone hooked into the hip hop scene? Where should I go and when?

Bar D and U-31 both have good nights for Hip-Hop, but I would lean more towards U-31 as it's a larger place and it gets nutty in there.  A good kind of nutty, like people dancing their asses off but with room to still move about.
