I find myself, oddly enough, without much going on this weekend. Any ideas? I know there's a free Flogging Molly concert downtown tomorrow night but not too many of my friends are into punk or the downtown scene.

Your're reffering to the Southern Comfort Music Fest this weekend. All weekend event chock full of great bands! Forget Flooging Molly, check out Transfer, Ryan Ferguson (No Knife ((I love how someone always has to point that out when they mention his name))), Dirty Sweet, Gert Back Loretta, The Roots, and all the SoCO and lime you can drink! (read: afford).
Free.

Yeah, I'm down with thw SoCo thing. Maybe you can convince your pals that it's not your usual downtown scene. And besides Flogging Molly, like Jason said, there are other great local acts from Classic rock style, indie, singer/songwriter to reggae.
Tonight, may I suggest the Beauty Bar? Cocktails & Manicures, live bands until around midnight when the DJ's start. Dynamite Walls and Republic of Letters are the bands

I saw Transfer play at the AmplifySD launch at House of Blues. I wasn't familiar with them prior to the show, but the did a good set. I'd recommend them as a band. And thanks for the festival idea.

I'm all about Transfer.
It was a treat to see them on a big outdoor stage, with lots of people who wouldn't normally see them. It'll be even better at the SD music awards next week...at least they can't lose to Pepper this year.
