Some markets have the "re-planet" drop-off centers, but you have to go when there is an attendant and they don't take everything. You end up bringing half of it home and probably use too much gasoline in doing so.
greenlagirl.com also has a ton of local resources for recycling. She'll even tell you how to stop getting junk mail like circulars for the market.
